The Little One's Debut!

We had our second ultrasound last week at 14 weeks and I am happy to share with you some of the Little One's photos. We saw the baby moving its arms around and rubbing its face, but the ultrasound tech said the legs were tucked up under the butt. The baby was moving SO MUCH we couldn't get a lot of great shots, but we managed to get a couple good ones:

(the images are poor quality because I just took a photo of the ultrasound photos with my phone)

It was so amazing to see the baby. It hadn't really sunk in that we are having a baby because I still can't feel it kicking and I'm hardly showing. Seeing the baby move and actually look like a baby was a pretty cool experience. It made it feel more real to us that we are actually going to be parents this summer!

As usual, the ultrasound tech wasn't allowed to interpret the results, so I was looking forward to getting confirmation from our Doctor that everything is okay. We saw her this week and although my blood results weren't back, she told us the results from the nuchal translucency test went well. It's always a relief to know that things are still on track, even though I wasn't overly concerned about worrisome news.

This was my first visit with a regular OBGYN - I've finally graduated from infertility specialists! The appointment started off with the nurse taking my weight and blood pressure. ( I think I've gained around 4 pounds) Then she went through a list of questions for Andino and I. Finally, she asked if we plan to attend prenatal classes (yes) If I plan to breastfeed (yes) if I'd had any bleeding or vomiting (no) and how healthy I would consider my diet (very healthy). After she left, the Doctor came in. She explained what to expect going forward and on the day of delivery. It was hard to believe we were actually talking about delivering our baby in MAY! At the end of the appointment she used the doppler and we got to hear the baby's heartbeat for the first time, which made Andino and I smile :)

The Doctor wanted to schedule my 20 week ultrasound when I was 18 weeks (not sure why) but Andino will be in Chile for 3 weeks coinciding with when she wanted to schedule it, so we asked her if it was possible to have the appointment later so he could be there for it.  She agreed and we will be having the next (and probably last) ultrasound when I am 20 weeks and  1 day. I'm glad Andino will be able to make it to the appointment, as the Doctor explained it will be the most important one because it checks all of the baby's anatomy.  Hopefully the holidays can keep me busy enough over the next 5 weeks so I don't worry too much about the 20 week ultrasound!

  1. I have seen several ultra sounds, but I could never really make them out. But I can certainly make these out. Wow... how things change, just think this time next year you will be buying Santa presents :)

  6. Isn't it absolutely amazing when they start to really look like an actual baby? I know what you mean about it not seeming real before that point, especially for you when you haven't really had much nausea either. Just wait till you can FEEL it move around! I'm glad Andino will be able to attend the anatomy scan. Will you find out if it's a boy or girl, or will you wait?

Wow! It's a baby in there!!! So cute! I can't wait until my little blob looks like a baby! It makes me feel so much better to know that you never had morning sickness... still have not had any nausea. I too am hoping that the holidays makes the next several weeks just fly by! Thanks again for including me in your private posts :)

  9. Oh my gosh I am so excited to feel the baby move!! I am almost 16 weeks and from what I've read online, you can usually start feeling movement between 18-20 weeks.

We are going to find out the sex. I didn't want to, but Andino really did and he convinced me! :)

  10. I was concerned about not having nausea, but then I talked to lots of other people who like us, didn't have many symptoms and it made me feel much better. Your baby will look like a baby before you know it, I promise!!

Thanks again for still reading :) xo
